Nintendo showed the Switch 2 homescreen.
During and after the Switch 2 Direct, new information about Nintendo’s next console has been announced – some more obviously, others are not. So if you are still wondering what the Switch 2 start screen looks like at all, we now have the answer for you. He will be on the official product page shown.
Like the console itself, the Switch 2 homescreen is just an upgrade
If you want a large redesign of the start screen for the Switch 2, we unfortunately have to disappoint you. Because, like the hardware, Nintendo has focused more on improving the tried and tested and visually no experiments.

But see yourself (you can compare even better between the design of the Switch 2 (left) and the switch 1 (right)):
The homescreen of the Switch 1 (here is an example of the launch) has also developed minimally over time, for example through a Dark Mode and the NSO menu item, but at its core that of the switch 2 is almost identical.
The innovations in the homescreen are clearly in detail. While the design hardly differs with rounded players instead of angular play tiles and colorful symbols, there are not only seven, but ten menu items.
That should be behind the three new symbols:
- yellow C – Gamechat
- turquoise screen – Probably Game Share
- gray cartridge – Probably Virtual Game Cards
You can read more about the functions that are (presumably) hiding behind the menu items:
We will find out what is really hidden behind the new menu items in the end on June 5 when the Switch 2 comes onto the market.

What about themes?
Apparently there will be no themes that we can use to customize the home screen. The Nintendo community If the feature has been wishing for the release on Switch 1. Accordingly, the voices are at first glance on the new homescreen behavior:
“Would like to have real themes this time, please, Nintendo …”
“Why. Why did you learn nothing from that time?!”
“It’s so simple and lame.”
We can currently only speculate whether the dark mode will be available directly to the launch on the new console and what it looks like for background music on the start screen. Nintendo remains guilty of a few remaining answers.
How do you like the Switch 2 home screen? Are you glad that it stays so simple, or what do you want?
