What will become of Tiktok? The deadline soon expires until the company has to be sold in the USA. A quick solution is probably not in sight.

President Donald Trump gives Tiktok another deadline extension in the United States. Despite a US law, the short video app should remain available in the country for another 75 days, Trump ordered. Trump explained “huge progress” during the negotiations on the short video service, Trump explained on Friday. However, more time is needed. He is looking forward to reaching an agreement with Tikkok and China. A statement by Tiktok or the government in Beijing was initially not available.

Shortly before the end of a deadline in the USA for the sale of Tikkok, Trump had spoken of an upcoming solution a few hours earlier. “We are about to deal with a very good group of people,” Trump explained. Tikok threatens the ban in the United States if the Chinese parent company Bytedance does not sell the immensely popular video platform.

The deadline set for this expires on Saturday at midnight at midnight (6 a.m. CEST). Trump said on board the presidential machine Air Force One about the possible solution for Tikkok that “several” investors were involved. He did not give details. Vice President JD Vance told the Fox News television station that Trump would announce the regulation for Tiktok before the deadline.

Trump himself indicated that Tikkok could be part of an agreement with China that deals with the US tariffs to Chinese imports. When asked whether he was ready to negotiate tariffs with countries, the president said: “As long as they give us something good. For example Tikkok.”

Trump continued: “We have a situation with Tikkok, in which China will probably say: we will agree with a deal, but will you do something with the tariffs?” The tariffs gave the United States a “great power of negotiations,” emphasized the President.

According to media reports, the most promising solution for Tikkok is that previous investors use their shares in order to found a new TIKTOK company independent of bytedance. Additional investors would therefore be added to this new company, including the software group Oracle and the investment company Blackstone.

A large part of the TikK activities in the USA is already located on Oracle servers, and Oracle boss Larry Ellison is a long-time Trump ally.

The law for the sale of Tiktok came into force on January 19, one day before the start of Trump’s term. Trump then exposed the law on January 21 for 75 days. Tikkok had previously hired his business in the USA for a short time and had disappeared from the app stores. After Trump then extended the deadline, Tiktok unlocked his app again. The app later appeared in the stores.
