Union Home Minister Amit Shah responded to the debate on the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the Rajya Sabha. He said, “The Disaster Management Act was first implemented in 2005. Under this, NDMA, SDMA and DDMA were formed … It is now being worried that power will be centralized. If you read the entire bill carefully, the biggest responsibility of implementation is the biggest responsibility of the district disaster management which is subject to the state government, so there is no possibility of any members of the federal structure … Need, I want to tell them that if a building is not repaired with time, it collapses … They will probably come and change it but we will not have to do whatever we have to do for the next 15-20 years … “
