FC Barcelona pays “high price” for emotional victory

Thanks to a sovereign home victory, coach Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona are now three points ahead of Archrival Real Madrid. Two former Bundesliga stars meet Osasuna. However, there is a concern about a key player.

FC Barcelona has expanded its lead in La Liga. The team of super coach Hansi Flick won the catch -up game against CA Osasuna, even without a lack of and spared superstars, 3-0 (2-0), the lead over Rival Real Madrid is three points ten match days before the end of the season. Ferran Torres (11th), Dani Olmo per penalty (21st) and Robert Lewandowski (77th) met for the Catalans.

Before the game, there was an emotional minute’s emotion for team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia in the Olympic Stadium, who died shortly before the original game date on March 8. “He was incredible for the team and the club, it was an essential part of our team,” said Flick.

A week and a half after the emotional 4-2 victory at Atlético Madrid, Flick was forced to change personnel. Lewandowski only took a seat on the bench, the Brazilian Raphinha and Ronald Araujo (Uruguay) were completely missing after their international matches in South America. But Barça delivered from the start without the best line -up, Torres converted a cross from Alejandro Balde to the lead. Then it got strange: Osasuna keeper Sergio Herrera took Olmo from his legs, the fouled started himself and initially failed on the Spaniard with his penalty. Because Jon Moncayola started the sixteen after his rescue operation afterwards, Olmo was allowed to go a second time – and this time sent Herrera into the wrong corner.

A few minutes later, the ex-Leipzig went to the ground without an opponent and had to be replaced due to an adductor injury (28th). This obviously has bitter consequences. Barça is expected to compete in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund without Olmo. “It doesn’t look good,” said Flick in a first reaction and spoke of two to three weeks that the former Leipzig will be. An exact diagnosis is still pending.

Flick was also angry with the start of the catch -up game, shortly after the international break and just three days before the next championship duel. “That was not good. We paid a high price for the three points with the injury of Dani,” he complained. The Catalans receive BVB in the premier class on April 9th. Almost a week later, the second leg in Dortmund is on the program. Barcelona will now try to get the European champion fit for the second duel with the Bundesliga club.
