It sucks, wipes, recognizes obstacles, empties himself and can be conveniently controlled by app or language: The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro omni promises a lot. But how does it work in real everyday life? Five readers have tested the device for computer image and report on their experiences.
Ecovacs Debot X8 Pro Omni: Design & Processing
Equipped with the test protocol of the computer image editorial team, the readers took the extensive test of their new budget helper on wheels. But before the dust went to the collar, the focus was on external values such as design and processing of the Deebot X8 Pro Omni. The readers liked the design very well: “The device looks really chic, especially the golden accents give it a noble note,” says tester Julian Schemm. The processing was also well received by the readers, since the plastic used for the Deebot seemed valuable and stable. “Everything looks coherent and robust for a device in this price range,” says Heike Rudolf.

From the outside, the Deebot X8 Pro Omni knows how to convince. But how does he do the housework?
Smooth set -up & commissioning
Before the readers were able to let go of their new suction and wiping robot on their floors, the Deebot X8 Pro Omni had to be installed and set up. Thanks to the enclosed step-by-step instructions and the detailed explanation in the ECOVACS app, this was excellent. “The commissioning is fundamentally simple. Once connected to the app, everything is understandable and logically explained. The station is also ready for use very quickly – water in the fresh water tank, then you can start,” writes Julian Schemm in his protocol.

Heike Rudolf is satisfied with the establishment of the ECOVACS DEEBOT X8 Pro Omni: “The connection to the Ecovacs app continued to work. The enclosed instructions are well structured and easy to understand, so that commissioning is quick even without technical previous knowledge.”

After commissioning, the robot first produces a map of the premises. That also worked well for readers at home. “The robot recognizes surfaces such as carpets, tiles or laminate very reliably. Reflection zones or carpets were also automatically recognized and displayed correctly in the app, so that no manual adjustment was necessary,” reports Heike Rudolf. For some readers, the robot recognized several different rooms only as a large one during the mapping, but that could be remedied after further mapping trips or manual adjustments in the app.
Smart operation via app & voice command
The robot is operated via the ECOVACS app, in which device settings such as suction strength or mop can also be carried out or cleaning plans can be set up. Both the app and the operation via the app liked the readers very well. “Operation via the app is very simple and intuitive. All settings can be easily found, cleaning plans can be easily created and edited. Control of the robot also works reliably,” says reader Heike Rudolf. The possibility of camera surveillance via app was also well received by the readers with pets: “This way we were able to watch our feathered family member when throwing grains,” says Adrian Lübke about the funny gimmick.

In the Ecovacs app, the map of the premises can be called and adapted.

An alternative type of operation is voice control, which, however, did not always work reliably in all testers. “The voice control over the AI is still in need of improvement, since the device does not recognize the command from time to time, although it is pronounced exactly as in the instructions. But it usually works,” reports Rudolf Gutschka. Readers Julian Schemm, on the other hand, is completely convinced of the intelligent voice control: “The control by voice command is more positive by the AI control and plus point for the device. You can have sub-areas cleaned with statements, which works very well and the user-friendliness increases. When testing, orders have always been completely and correctly derived and implemented accordingly, a subsequent control confirmed this.”
Sucking and wiping with brains
For the main discipline of the robot, namely sucking and wiping the floors, readers awarded good to very good notes. The testers were particularly impressed by the very good obstacle recognition and compliance with no-go zones. “The robot had no problems with a suddenly open cabinet door and a falling toy. The robot wonderfully ignored a carpet in the bedroom that we had excluded because of the high floor,” writes Adrian Lübke in his test protocol.

Another plus is the “Zerotangle 2.0 technology”. This should prevent hair from getting stuck in the cleaning brushes. According to the reader tester Rudolf Gutschka, this “great technology flawlessly” with two women with longer hair and also a cat in the household. The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni also received a lot of praise for its high suction power. According to the tester Julian Schemm, this is “excellent”: “It sucks thoroughly and takes up almost every dirt. When checking after suction, I could not find any complaints.” The X8 Pro Omni collects further plus points for intelligent cleaning of the carpets. So that these do not get wet, the robot cleans them first and raise the wiping roller if possible.
Cleaning with corners and edges
The only drawback for cleaning is the handling of the robot of corners and edges: Although manufacturer Ecovacs promises thorough cleaning of them, the readers could not always confirm this in the test. Often the robot left a lot of space to a edge or corner and did not always clean it completely. “We have found that the cleaning of corners and edges on walls works better than on objects. But overall a solid performance,” explains Adrian Lübke. Readers Julian Schemm puts on a record: “The edge cleaning is good, since the extendable side brush also achieved more difficult areas. In the kitchen, however, it has kept a lot of distance from the kitchen line, which is why the cleaning was a little less good here. But in all other areas, however, it delivered a satisfactory good to very good performance.”

Fascinating Ozmo Roller Wiping Technology
A special feature of the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni is the Ozmo Roller wiping technology. Thanks to this, the wiping roller should always be clean, which means that the dirt does not distribute itself in the apartment, but is always absorbed. Tiny fresh water nozzles inside the robot ensure self -cleaning, which always supply the roller with clean water. At the same time, the dirty used water is stripped and collected.

In the test, the technology proved to be reliable and helpful: “The continuous self -cleaning of the wiping roller ensures a more hygienic result than with conventional microfiber pads. The combination with cleaning is particularly effective – the floor shines and feels cleaner. The technology is a real added value,” writes Heike Rudolf in the protocol. Julian Schemm is also convinced: “The wiping technology is excellent. The robot drives several times over stubborn spots to remove them without residue.

Clean thing: The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni station
The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni moves back to its omni station after each cleaning, where it is extensively cleaned and emptied. The wet wiping roller is also specially cleaned and dried, which should prevent unpleasant smells. The automatic cleaning agent dosage also drops the maintenance effort for the Deebot X8 Pro Omni to a minimum. “The robot is actually a sure -fire success. Certainly you have to fill up the water and remove the dirty water, but that is really not a significant effort,” testifies Francine Schäfer. Reader Heike Rudolf also likes this: “The station takes a lot of tasks from the user and significantly increases comfort”. Overall, the testers rated the Omni station with good to very good 4.4 out of 5 stars.

Reader Julian Schemm fills the water tank of the Omni station. “I think the maintenance effort is low, since the device is largely cleaning itself. Only the dust trap container and the sewage container should be cleaned over time.”

What can be improved?
No device is perfect, and so the readers also noticed the X8 Pro Omni functions that could tolerate fine grinding. This affects the voice control of AI as well as the corner and edge cleaning. But even the punctual cleaning and wiping the Deebot X8 Pro Omni could not always do the satisfaction of all readers. Nevertheless, these little flaws cannot reduce the overall positive impression of the readers: All testers would recommend the X8 Pro Omni, especially because of its excellent cleaning performance thanks to the innovative wiping roller.

Adrian Lübke is satisfied with his new household assistant: “The stain detection works very well for us. As a hobby cook, there are often different stains on the kitchen floor, which have been recognized and removed. The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni is also persistent and likes to wipe a second time until it is clean.”

The conclusion of the readers on the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni
With 4.3 out of 5 stars, the readers awarded a good to very good overall grade for the Ecovacs Deebot Omni X8 Pro. He convinced above all with his simple commissioning, the clean purification results and many intelligent functions that simplify cleaning and handling. “I like the suction and swiping performance on the Ecovacs Debot X8 Pro Omni, because I have not seen such a good performance with any vacuum robot. I now appreciate the Deebot X8 Pro Omni after the test week and don’t like to do so! A lot of time to get me into and comfortably handed it up with the always current app, ”Julian Schemm pulls his summary.
Heike Rudolf is also “completely satisfied” with the device and sees many advantages in everyday life – for example “the time won with my baby while the robot does work”.
