CM of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gundapur.
Peshawar: Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that interaction with the Taliban is necessary to establish permanent peace in the region. This is the only way for peace. On Friday evening, while talking to reporters at an iftar party in Islamabad, Gandapur claimed that the conversation is the only way and he can bring the Taliban to the conversation table, provided he is entrusted with this responsibility.
The Chief Minister claimed that he had prepared a draft of the elders of the tribes in the conversation and a full outline draft and sent it to the Ministry of External Affairs and Internal Ministry, but he had not received any reply even after two and a half months. He insisted that the Taliban would not refuse to negotiate with the elderly of the tribes and Maulana Fazalur Rahman has no effect on the Taliban.
Emphasis on Imran’s release and Taliban talk
Chief Minister Gandapur also said that he can discuss with Taliban leader Hibetullah Akhundzada on any day. However, he clarified that no contact has been made with the Taliban yet. The Chief Minister also said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could not have any political talks without the release of founder Imran Khan. He emphasized that the political stability of the country depends on the release of the former Prime Minister. Therefore, if the government wants to establish peace, then it will have to think on their suggested ideas. (Language)
