Is there a spectacular deal at FC Bayern? Ralf Rangnick is again associated with the record champion. Now sports director friend is commenting on the explosive topic.
Sports director Christoph Freund had to smile when he was asked about a explosive topic at the FC Bayern press conference on Friday morning. The name Ralf Rangnick is currently making the round on Säbener Straße again, the questioner stated, and as an Austrian, he finally knew first -hand what the current Austrian national coach is doing so well. Freund replied: “Ralf is the team leader in Austria and does a very good job in recent years.”
Friend continues: “I don’t know if his name is having around on Säbener Strasse or having fun in Dortmund or with other clubs.” According to “Sport Bild”, Rangnick at Borussia Dortmund should be in discussion for the summer, possibly for the post of the sports director. The 66-year-old was speculated as a coaching option before the commitment of BVB coach Niko Kovač.
Also in Munich, where he was acted as the successor to coach Thomas Tuchel last year, Rangnick is said to be a candidate for a post in management. This is reported by the Austrian magazine “Profile”. As a result, Bavaria’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß should appreciate Rangnick’s strategic skills. He could imagine a superordinate role for the national coach – in the wording as a “mastermind” (you can read more about this here).
According to T-online information, Rangnick has been an issue for Bayern for several weeks. The tensions from the past between Rangnick and Uli Hoeneß have long been cleared. In the exclusive T-online interview, Hoeneß recently made it clear: “We have an excellent, really a very relaxed relationship.”
According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, this assessment coincides with internal observations at FC Bayern. Hoeneß should continue to be convinced of Rangnick’s work – despite his previous rejection of the coaching position last summer. A possible role for Rangnick is compared internally with Jürgen Klopp’s model as “Global Head of Soccer” at Red Bull.
Such a concept would have several advantages for Bayern: Rangnick could not only strengthen the club with its experience in the field of scouting and offspring, but also act as a possible transition solution to key positions such as trainers, sports director or sports director.
The sporting management area is primarily occupied by FC Bayern with sports director Max Eberl and sports director. Depending on the position, the Supervisory Board around Honorary President Uli Hoeneß would primarily decide on an obligation by Rangnick. Chief coach Vincent Kompany and friend continue to enjoy high reputation in the club and the trust of the club bosses. Sports board member Max Eberl also had success with the extensions of the contracts of Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich – but at a high financial price.
Freund now said about Rangnick, whom he already knows from times together in the Red Bull cosmos and from his many years of work as a sporting person in Salzburg: “He has already done a lot in football and a lot of passion for this and various positions.” Freund was convinced: “I think he is very happy in Austria, also with the team.”
