Ukraine has apparently found an effective antidote against sliding bombs. Their control is disturbed with high-tech weapons.
In addition to drone swarms, sliding bombs are the strongest Russian weapon in war against Ukraine. They are thrown off by aircraft, but can stay in the air for a while and reach a destination using GPS control. The destination can be up to 40 kilometers from the away. The bombs caused great destruction in Ukraine, up to 100 bombs were thrown off per day, reports the magazine “Forbes”.
But now the Ukrainian army has apparently found an antidote. A new misery confuses the control systems of the Russian bombs. According to the report, it was developed by the “Night Watch” team, a special unit that is devoted to electronic defense. The members have developed “Lima”, a device that represents a new generation of interference.
So far, these misery has been sending out stubborn signals on radio frequencies. “We use digital interference,” said a member of the special unit to the magazine. It is “a combination of disturbance, spoofing and cyber attack on the navigation recipient”. According to Ukraine, it was initially found that the precision of the Russian bombs had subsided. After all, they were no longer used in certain areas.
The new misery are also constantly being developed. According to the “Fighterbomber” channel, which is considered an unofficial mouthpiece of the Russian Air Force, between eight and 16 sliding bombs are now needed to hit a goal. Although the bombs themselves are not expensive, the Ukrainian misery put the Russian Air Force in front of another problem. The Russian Sukhoi jets can only wear up to four bombs. For an attack, more jets have to be in the air, or you have to reload and come back. This in turn increases the risk of a shooting.
