Putin appeals to the record of recruits

Like every spring, Russia again appoints conscripts in the army. But this year the number is particularly high.
Against the background of his war of aggression against Ukraine, Russia President Vladimir Putin called 160,000 young men for military service. The Russians between the ages of 18 and 30 are to be collected by mid -July, according to the corresponding presidential secretion. This is the highest number of conscripts since the Kremlin has been increasingly relying on professional contract and time soldiers since 2012. Twice a year – in spring and autumn – Russia still appoints more than 100,000 men for one -year military service.
This time, Russia rely on a central electronic database in the convening campaign, the general staff said. The military kit replacement offices did not do without the printed convenient notices, which would continue to be sent to the registration addresses.
At the same time, however, there are also electronic planning notices that the young people would receive on their account on the website of state services “Gosuslugi”. Because of the large number of services that are managed via the portal, practically all adults in Russia now have a customer account there.
The Kremlin has increased the troop strength of the Russian army three times since the incident in neighboring Ukraine. Last autumn, Putin recently ordered the target strength to increase to 2.4 million military members – of which 1.5 million soldiers. Officially, conscripts do not take part in the war against Ukraine, but they were involved in fighting in the Russian border area several times.
