In Saxony-Anhalt the number of knife attacks has dropped. Last year, 936 such attacks were counted nationwide, 133 less than in 2023, as the Interior Ministry in Magdeburg announced. This corresponds to a decline of around twelve percent. 795 cases could therefore be informed in the previous year, which corresponds to a rate of 85 percent.

Of the knife attacks registered between January and December 2024, more than half (481) were classified as threats. According to the ministry, there were also 293 assault offenses and 120 predatory offenses. A total of 800 suspects were determined, of which 696 men were, it said. The information was largely adults. 127 were young people and 67 children, as it was said.
