The Federal District Court filed, on Tuesday (1st), a lawsuit filed by Banco Santander against Councilman Jair Renan Bolsonaro (PL), son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, for a debt of over $ 400,000. The filing occurred after the formalization of an agreement between the parties, according to the newspaper The globe.

The case was being processed at the 1st Extrajudicial Title Execution Court and Arbitral Conflicts of Brasilia. In March this year, Jair Renan signed an agreement to pay R $ 409,542.14, which resulted in the extinction of the lawsuit. The debt, originally $ 291,000, had been contracted by the company RB Eventos e Media, of which Jair Renan was a partner. The company was officially ended with the IRS in August 2023.
Before the agreement, the bank even filed the court on several occasions to try to locate assets of the councilman and guarantee the payment of the debt, which had reached the amount of R $ 433,360.31. In 2024, Santander even requested the investigation of financial assets of the former president’s son and the blockade of assets to pay off the outstanding balance.
In the rendering of accounts delivered to the Electoral Court during the process of candidacy for the position of councilman in Balneário Camboriú, Jair Renan declared R $ 46,069.79 in goods, well below the total debt.
In a statement, the defense of the councilman claimed that Jair Renan would have been “victim of a stem of police and justice”, and that he would now be “suffering the consequences” of acts that were not their direct responsibility.
With the agreement approved, the judicial process was filed.
