The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday that it is discussing a “considerable” loan with Argentina, but has not confirmed the $ 20 billion announced previously by the Argentine government.
“What I can say now is that discussions about a new fund-supported program are very advanced and… they include discussions about a considerable financing package,” said IMF spokesman Julie Kozack, when asked about the ad in Buenos Aires.
She said the value “will be determined by our executive board.”

Kozack said that despite a “really impressive stabilization program,” both the fund and the government recognize the “need for tax, monetary and currency policies” to support the gains obtained so far.
