Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen expresses his resentment about the degradation of Liam Lawson at Red Bull. He likes a critical contribution via Instagram – and now defends it: “I liked that, that says enough, doesn’t it? It wasn’t a mistake.”
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen sees the quick change of his teammate at Red Bull critically. Although the Dutchman did not comment on excessive comments in the run -up to the Grand Prix of Japan, he confirmed that he deliberately “liked” a critical post on Instagram on this topic. “That speaks for itself” and “was not a mistake,” said Verstappen in Suzuka.
Red Bull had replaced the New Zealand Liam Lawson after only two races by the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda. The former Formula 1 driver Giedo van der Guard had described this on Instagram as “bullying or a panic action”, which in turn tempted Verstappen to a “like”. “I found the comment, the text well,” said Verstappen: “I discussed everything with the team and informed how I think about everything. Sometimes it is not necessary to carry everything in public.”
Lawson only got up from the sister team Racing Bulls at the start of the season. However, his achievements were so disappointing that he was dumped on the phone. “I didn’t expect it so early,” said the New Zealander now that he was faced with accomplished facts.
