Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has given information in Parliament regarding online cancellation of tickets purchased from the railway counter. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in Parliament on Friday that the ticket purchased from the ticket counter can be canceled online through IRCTC website or inquiry number 139, but will have to go to the Railway Reservation Center to get the amount.

BJP MP asked questions

BJP MP Medha Vishram Kulkarni had questioned whether there is a need to go to the station before the train departure to cancel the ticket. In a written reply to this question, Vaishnav said in the Rajya Sabha that the ticket will be canceled at the reservation counter if the railway passengers (cancellation of tickets (tickets canceled and fare return) is handed over from the PRS Counter (Railway Reservation Center) to the waiting list taken from the PRS Counter (Railway Reservation Center).

Can also be canceled online through 139

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “However, under normal circumstances, the PRS counter ticket can be canceled online through the IRCTC website or 139 within the stipulated time limit as per Railway Passenger (cancellation and rent return) Rules 2015 and the refund amount can be taken by depositing tickets at the original PRS counter of the reservation counters.”
