The effect of monsoon in the western and eastern parts of the country has intensified. Life has been disturbed due to heavy rains in many areas including Mumbai, Odisha and Kolkata. There is a situation of waterlogging and traffic jams in Mumbai, while in many districts of Odisha and South Bengal, heavy to heavy rain alert has been issued. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be vigilant in sea coastal areas.
Due to continuous rains in Mumbai and surrounding districts for the last 24 hours, waterlogging has been created in many areas. In view of the flood -like situation, the local administration has advised citizens to get out of the house only when it is very important. People have been appealed to drive vehicles vigilantly. Municipal corporation and emergency services are on alert. In any disaster, citizens can contact 100, 112 or 103 numbers.
Heavy rain warns in Odisha
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), converting the depression of low pressure sector in the Bay of Bengal may cause heavy to heavy rains from 25 to 28 July. Especially in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, more than 21 centimeters of rain may occur on 25 July, for which a red alert has been issued. Apart from this, an orange alert has been issued in ten other districts. The Special Relief Commissioner has asked all the District Magistrates to be ready for relief and rescue operations.
Fisheries department alerts fishermen
The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go to the sea till 28 July in the coastal areas of Odisha and Bengal, fearing storms and strong winds. Officials have said that the current conditions in the sea can be dangerous for fishermen. People living in coastal areas have also been appealed to be alert.

Waterlogging in Kolkata and South Bengal
In Kolkata, Salt Lake, Howrah and other districts of South Bengal, waterlogging and traffic problems have arisen due to overnight rains. Salt Lake recorded 132 mm of rainfall, 81 mm in Alipur, Kolkata and 67 mm in Dum Dum. Schools have been closed in many areas and the administration has appealed to the people to be vigilant.
Alert of heavy rain in these areas of Bengal
The Meteorological Department has warned of very heavy rains in Bankura, Jhargram and West Medinipur. At the same time, heavy rains have also been predicted in Purulia, East Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata. This period of rain is likely to continue till Saturday morning. Even after this, moderate to heavy rains may continue in some districts for the next six days.

Advice to take precautions, administration on alert
In view of heavy rains in many parts of the country, the administration has issued a high alert. Relief teams have been deployed in many districts and water drainage is being done by planting pumps in waterlogging areas. The Meteorological Department has said that the situation may worsen in Bengal and some districts of Odisha, so people have been appealed to be vigilant.
