Coalition governments have a long history in Bihar. For the first time in the state, the coalition government came into existence in 1967. Mahamaya Prasad was its head. Mahamaya Prasad, who was in the Congress till a few months before becoming the Chief Minister, had entered the student movement against his own government. Later contested against the then Chief Minister of Congress. After defeating him, he got the title of ‘Giant Killer’.
