Two men have an illegal car race in the streets of Hamburg. This costs life to a toddler. Now the two speeders are on trial.
An illegal car race in Ludwigsburg probably cost two uninvolved women. Two young men raced through the city there last week. No isolated case, like a look Hamburg shows. The pictures of the accident in August 2024 in Hamburg-Billstedt, in which a two-year-old died and several people were injured, were terrible. Seven months later, two young men are now in front of the district court for murder. The indictment assumes that the two delivered an illegal street race and accepted it to fatally violate other people.
The parents of the killed boy are co -plaintiffs in the trial, the two non -accused are in custody. The auditorium is fully occupied on the first day of the procedure. When the strong men are brought in, the mother turns her head in a different direction. Tears run over her face, the father puts his arm around her.
Six people were injured in the accident on August 26 in the Billstedt district. The two -year -old, initially life -threatening, died in the hospital a little later. His twin brother and mother suffered serious injuries. The two accident drivers and a then 23 -year -old passenger were minor injuries.
The accusations of the public prosecutor’s office, attempted murder, dangerous bodily harm, forbidden motor vehicle races with death and endangering road traffic. The accused would have acted ruthlessly and had a “feeling of superiority” in the race.
According to the public prosecutor, the two drivers were on the Schiffbeker Weg with their cars when the family’s car turned onto the street. He only collided with the rear of the car of the younger driver (then 22). The car of the 24-year-old at that time collided headally with the left side of the mother’s car.
These two vehicles were thrown onto the oncoming lane and completely destroyed. The two -year -old twins were sitting in their child seats on the back seat of the family’s car. According to the public prosecutor, the two defendants were traveling at the race at 178 km/h and 150 km/h. 50 was allowed. According to the side lawsuit, there were cameras in two of the vehicles. The images will be viewed in the process.
But also the question of whether the mother may have been turned wrong beforehand and what role this played for the accident will be discussed in the process. The defense emphasizes that the woman was turned on the left instead of as allowed. According to the public prosecutor, the woman runs an investigation in parallel because of this question. A lawyer of the co -action, Yalçın Tekinoğlu, says on the sidelines of the process: “Even if she had driven to the right, the accident would have occurred.”
Anyone who kills a person with their car as a ruthless racer can be condemned as a murderer. This was found by the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe in January 2019. The defenders of the 23-year-old deny an intentional intention to kill their client that the public prosecutor’s office only justified this with conjectures. The defendant external but “serious regret” about the accident. The other driver’s admission should not take place until next Wednesday.
“The family is very bad,” says lawyer Tekinoğlu. The parents have four other children. The family visits the boy’s grave every day. The court has scheduled 23 further days of negotiations. The father wants to take part in everyone.
