The bus had taken a primary school class from Milan to visit the renowned Egyptian museum in Turin. While the children were in the museum, the driver waited in a parking lot near the Vittorio Emanuele I bridge, which connects the center of Turin with the other bank.
On a video you can see how the bus breaks through a low wall when it is reversed, hangs briefly in the air and finally falls into the river several meters deep. The bus sometimes sank into the water. The driver could still be pulled out by rescue workers, but died a short time later.

According to the emergency services, the three injured passants got away with bruises. With a bus full of children, the misfortune could have ended much worse.
The fire brigade was also used with divers to ensure that there were no other people on the bus. The vehicle belongs to a company from the Campobasso Campbasso Camp. The children were then brought back to Milan with another means of transport. The Egyptian Museum is one of the most important museums in the 850,000-inhabitant city and is also internationally known.
