CDU politician Julia Klöckner is the new Bundestag president. But what is known about the private life of the woman who dresses this important office?
Julia Klöckner was elected Bundestag president on Tuesday. The 52-year-old takes over the second highest office in the state. But apart from her political career, there is hardly anything known about the politician, she largely keeps her private life out of the public – with a few exceptions.
So it is known that Julia Klöckner was already married. In 2019 she gave the entrepreneur Ralph Grieser the yes. Before the wedding, Klöckner raved in an interview with “Frau im SPIEGEL”: “When I’m at home, I get my coffee first in the morning and snipped a fruit salad. Even if I have to go to the airport at five o’clock.”
Despite the fruit salad in the early morning, love was not intended for eternity. The CDU politician and the classic car dealer separated in 2023, her lawyer informed the German Press Agency at the time: “The parties involved decided in kind and together not to continue the marriage. You and the families will continue to be connected.”
It is not the first separation that Julia Klöckner has behind. Before that, she was in a relationship with media manager and author Helmut Ortner for more than 15 years until the couple decided in 2017 to go their separate ways.
However, hardly anything is known about her love, although the now 75-year-old Helmut Ortner is a prominent person. The journalist, who wrote over 50 books, and Klöckner completely shielded her relationship from the public. No interviews about your partner, no joint appearances.
In 2015, however, Julia Klöckner gave a rare insight into living together with Helmut Ortner. “He has been my first and sharpest benevolent critic for almost 15 years. I have the toughest opposition to the kitchen table, which always lets me think and check new thinking”, quotes the “Welt” from Klöckner’s book “! Ideas instead of ideologies – which is important to me in politics”.
