The Google Maps card service wants to protect its users from manipulated reviews. For this, the platform will show corresponding warnings in the future.
Google Maps takes on fake reviews on its platform, reports the US magazine “9to5Google”. According to this, users will be increasingly displayed in the future if Google discovered or removed suspicious reviews.
According to “9to5google”, Google uses artificial intelligence for its new warning system. This not only recognizes conspicuous reviews, but can also recognize striking patterns months after the publication of a review. In certain cases, ratings would be completely disabled at times, it is said.
According to its own statements, Google has “imposed posting restrictions on more than 900,000 accounts last year that repeatedly violated our guidelines”. Including those who had published fake reviews.
With the new AI system, the group now wants to proceed even more against those companies that want to get a better image with purchased five-star reviews. The function is currently being introduced in the USA, Great Britain and India. From May, the automated warnings should be available worldwide.
In the meantime, Google taught an adapted AI based on “Gemini” to recognize fraudulent changes to corporate profiles on its platform better than before. In the meantime, few entries were enough to recognize suspicious patterns – regardless of the industry or language, it is said.
According to Google, thousands of suspicious profiles were blocked this year alone. Last year, the group removed more than 240 million ratings that violated Google’s guidelines. In addition, over 70 million inadmissible local changes and more than 12 million fake profiles were deleted or closed.
