They were once the heroes of Las Vegas. But just a few years after her death, the memory of magicians Siegfried and Roy already fades. The conversion of your former property into a museum should now counteract this.
The former private residence of the legendary magicians Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn in Las Vegas becomes a museum. This has now been officially decided, reports the “Bild” newspaper.
The 7700 square meter property with the 813 square meter main house and three outbuildings was offered for sale in 2023. Circus owner George Card had acquired it – according to the US portal “TMZ” for almost three million euros. The “Bild” newspaper writes around a further million euros in the renovation.
Since the purchase, Card has been fighting to transform the property into a tourist attraction. He needed approval for this because the former home of the magicians is in a residential area. Now Cards are said to have convinced the authorities in Las Vegas to be able to use the building as a museum commercially. René Meinert confirmed this in turn. He should be responsible for the German -speaking tours in the “Jungle Palace”.
“Historical place”
The sheet quotes Meinert with the words: “George Carden convinced the citizens’ office in Las Vegas that the ‘Jungle Palace’ is a historical place that is of particular importance for the city. In a public hearing, the decision to use the building as a museum was now unanimously accepted.” Now only an inspection of the fire brigade is necessary for the security requirements.
Siegfried and Roy were probably the most famous magician duo in the world, with a show called “Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage Resort and Casino”, which was considered the most visited show by Las Vegas in the 1990s. In 2003, the magician duo ended its active stage career after Horn was seriously injured by one of his tigers during an appearance on the stage.
Roy Horn died on May 8, 2020 at the age of 75 after having previously suffered a Covid 19 disease. At the beginning of 2021 it was announced that Siegfried Fischbacher suffered from the pancreatic cancer. He left life on January 13, 2021 at the age of 81.
