Pope Francis is not yet healed. After five weeks of hospital, he was now showing himself to the public for the first time.

Predicting believers, jubilation calls, clapping: On the square in front of the Gemelli Clinic there was a celebration on Sunday. Shortly after 12 noon, Pope Francis showed up again for the first time after a five -week hospital stay.

The Pontifex was pushed in a wheelchair to a balcony of the hospital. Francis, who presented himself without oxygen support, seemed strained and yet happy: he smiled and seemed to be happy about the gathered people.

He struggled to wave his hands to wave. He stretched up the right thumb several times. Then a helper held a microphone. The head of the Catholic Church thanked for the support in a weak voice and granted the blessing.

After about two and a half minutes everything was over. The helpers pushed the Pope’s wheelchair again from the balcony. Below the Pontifex cheered several thousand people, it sounded “Francis, Francis” calls. At the same time, it became clear how difficult Francis is still struck: While the Pope was pushed off the balcony, he seemed to have difficulty getting air.
