Some are annoyed over an stolen hour of the night. For many people, however, the time change in March is a welcome spring messenger.
It’s summer time again. The watches in Germany and in the other EU countries were presented from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. The Central European summer time (CEST) applies until October 26th. The aim of the measure introduced in 1980 is the better exploitation of the daily brightness. The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig implements the time change.
The EU Commission had proposed years ago not to change the time. Since then, however, there is no agreement on the subject in sight. However, the project should not be given up. However, according to a spokeswoman, the current Polish EU Presidency is also aware that the proposal has so far only received a limited support from the Member States.
