“I don’t like the term rearme at all,” says Pedro Sánchez from Brussels, just after the president of the European Commission, Ursula von del Leyen presented her plan Rearm Europe for which it intends to mobilize up to 800,000 million euros to strengthen the defense infrastructure of Europe “both to respond to the urgency in the short term of acting and supporting Ukraine, and to address the long -term need to assume much greater responsibility for our own European security” in the face of the growing uncertainties on the military support of the United States. Sanchez is not against the rearma, but he does not want him to be called Remove. He would prefer to call him Technological Leap of Digital Transformationbecause he says that “I think we have to talk differently, to address our citizens in another way when we talk about the need to improve European security and defense capacities.” That is, he believes he has to deceive us.
Perhaps this need has come to Pedro Sánchez just when he has seen that all his investiture partners voted in the Congress of Deputies in favor of a BNG initiative that urges the Government to “give up any increase in military spending”; initiative that has received the favorable vote of SUmar, Podemos, PNV and Bildu and the abstention of ERC. In addition, add, the party led by the vice president of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, has voted against increasing the expense in defense and favor of another proposal so that Spain ceases to be a member of NATO. Pedro Sánchez has committed to Europe to increase spending when he has not even been able to approve budgets that will not include any increase in defense expenditure, an issue for which he has them all against. So the great idea has occurred to him: rename the rearmament as a technological jump.
Sánchez is not at all original. Already in the dystopian novel 1984 from George Orwell, the Big Brother called the Ministry of Peace to the war manager; Ministry of Truth to the person in charge of falsifying the history and ministry of abundance to which food ration. Surely inspired by Orwell, Maduro created his vice minister of the supreme social happiness of the people to serve citizens who die of hunger and calls the opponents “coup plotters.” At the moment, Sánchez has not yet been able to get so far, but everything will walk.
The funny thing is that no one has been surprised, because people are adapting to these things little by little, just like the patient increasingly needs more doses of morphine to produce the same effect. Sánchez promises us that Bildu is not going to agree, and when he agrees with the proetarras, he says that what he has signed is not a pact. He assures that he would take the dream to have Podemos in his government and make Vice President Pablo Iglesias so that we all sleep better. Promises that will bring Spain to Spain Puigdemont to make accounts before justice and then approve an amnesty law because that is for him to do justice. At the moment, Sánchez has been formed by renamed rearmament as a technological jump, but his true intention is to call it disarmament. Lose a couple more voting in Congress and we’ll see it.
