Queen Sofia opens her Holy Week in Mallorca presiding over the solidarity concert of Project Man

The Queen Sofia He attended this last Monday at the ‘Concert de Setmana Santa: Requiem de Fauré’, which took place in the Cathedral of Mallorca for the benefit of the entity Project Home Balears. Once inside the central nave of the SEU, Mrs. Sofia was received among applause from the more than 1,600 people who attended the beneficial act.

Queen Emerita arrived a little before 8:30 p.m. without her sister Irene in Greece. Inside the SEU it was received by the bishop of Mallorca, Sebastià Taltavulland to the dean of the cathedral, Antoni Vera.

Sitting in the front row, Mrs. Sofia could enjoy the ‘Fauré Requiem’, which was interpreted by the Simfònica Balearicas orchestra, under the baton of Pablo Mielgonext to the coral of the University of Les Illes Balears, directed by Núria Cunillera. On this occasion the solo voices that accompanied the musical piece were those of the Mallorquina soprano Lorena Bonnín and the baritone José Antonio López.

This is the 16th edition of the celebration of this concert, whose collection will be destined to finance treatment and prevention programs for Project Home Balears.

It should be remembered that Project Home Balears were established in 1987 and has the mission, prevent, attend and respond to the problems generated by addictions in the Balearic societythrough the investigation and development of prevention and therapy programs – individual or group – that offer an effective and adapted alternative to the people affected by an addiction and their family environment, to achieve their autonomy, personal growth and an adequate socio -labor integration.
