Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the session on ‘Environment, Cop 30 and Global Health’ at the BRICS summit held at Rio de Janeiro. In a social media post, he wrote, “I am grateful to Brazil that he took the initiative to discuss these topics at the BRICS summit.” This is a very important subject for the future of humanity.
In another X post, he said, we have always given top priority to climate change and environmental protection in India. It has also been a part of our ancient culture. Climate change is not only a matter of energy for us, but is a question of maintaining balance between life and nature.

The Prime Minister said, India is inspired by the spirit of ‘people, planets and progress’. India has started several initiatives like Mission Life (lifestyle for the environment), a tree mother’s name, international solar alliance, alliance for anti -disaster structure, Green Hydrogen Mission, Global Biofuel Alliance and International Big Cat Alliance.
Climate justice is not an alternative, but moral responsibility
Prime Minister Modi said on X, despite being the fastest growing big economy in the world, India fulfilled its promises of the Paris Agreement ahead of time. Climate justice is not an alternative to us, but moral responsibility. India believes that climate action will be limited to discussions until the needy countries get technical transfer and affordable financial assistance.

Health of people and planet is connected
He said, the health of our people and the planet is connected among themselves. Corona epidemic taught us that virus does not come with visas and solutions are not selected by looking at passports! Therefore, we have to strengthen our shared efforts, so that our planet can remain healthy. Prime Minister Modi said, India is proud that it launched the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which is the world’s biggest health safety scheme. We have used the strength of technology to make the health system more effective. We also have a rich tradition of traditional medical systems, which promote overall health.
The next year will be a ‘humanity first’ approach under India’s BRICS chairmanship.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the climate has an important responsibility of developed countries in bridge between ambition and financing. He said that next year India’s BRICS will be a ‘humanity first’ approach. India will work to redefine the BRICS in a new form, which will form flexibility and innovation for cooperation and stability. Just as we expanded G20 during our chairmanship, preferred global South issues in the agenda, similarly during our chairmanship of BRICS, we will concentrate this platform and take forward humanity with the spirit of earlier.
