Pakistan and Turkas on Wednesday agreed to increase mutual cooperation in various areas including defense, trade, energy and infrastructure. The two countries aim to increase bilateral trade to US $ five billion.

The decision was taken during a conversation with Turk’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yasar Guler during a conversation with Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad. Dar said, “Pakistan wants to learn from the experience of Turki’s defense sector.” He further said that the two countries will further strengthen mutual cooperation to promote peace and stability throughout the region.

Dar told the Turkia reliable friend and brother

Ishaq Dar described the Turki as a ‘trusted friend and brother’ of Pakistan. He said that both countries are actively involved in various activities including capacity building and anti-terrorism activities.

Fidan told strategic steps to cooperate in the field of defense industry

Turki Foreign Minister Fidan said that cooperating in the field of defense industry is a ‘strategic step’ and it will be further strengthened in the coming times. He also said that both countries will continue to support each other in combating terrorism.

Dar made a joint press conference with Fidan

Ishaq Dar held a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Fidan of Turki. Meanwhile, Dar said, “We are trying to establish a particular economic field for Turki entrepreneurs in Karachi.” Dar also mentioned other programs including the revival of the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad train. He said that in the next few weeks our representatives will hold a meeting to finalize the scheme. Dar also said that Pakistan has given land for construction of the Turki Marif school in Muzaffarabad. A delegation of Marif Foundation will go there and inspect the place.

Turki Foreign Minister Fidan said that both countries have expanded mutual relations in economy, energy, defense, industry, education and cultural fields. Fidan said that the two countries aim to increase trade relations to US $ five billion.

The meeting discussed the development of regional safety mobility, progress of defense cooperation and future support in emerging areas of war.
