With two to 6.5 hours of term, Switch 2 has the shortest battery life under all Switch models. As Nintendo notes on the official website, this is an estimate. How long the battery lasts depends on the games we play and the general conditions under which we play.

For comparison-these are the battery term of the older Switch models:

  • Standard switch Old model (HAC-001) – 2.5 to 6.5 hours
  • Standard-Switch newer model (HAC-001 (-01))– 4.5 to 9 hours
  • Switch lite: 3 to 7 hours
  • Nintendo Switch Oled – 4.5 to 9 hours

Larger battery does not mean more term: With a capacity of 5220 mAh, the Switch 2 has installed a larger battery compared to the standard switch (4310mAh), but the new console still has a shorter term.

Colleague Tobi Veltin, who looked at the device at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Paris, has learned the following in the course of a Q & A session with Kouichi Kawamoto (producer), Tetsuya Sasaki (Technical Director) and Takuhiro Dohta (Director).

Accordingly, the battery is larger, but the Switch 2 also needs more power than the older switch models, which explains the comparatively shorter term.

What is your opinion on the battery term?
