The famous Kalichod temple is located in Kathgodam in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. This temple is dedicated to Kali Mata. According to the beliefs associated with this temple, the idol of Kali Mata came out here during the land excavation. According to mythological beliefs, before 1942, in Calcutta, Mata Rani gave a darshan to one of her devotees and told about the place where the idol was buried. After this, the devotee reaches that place and excavates the land and removes the idol of mother Kali. There were other idols along with Goddess Kali, which was also taken out. After this, the temple of Kali Mata was established in the middle of the forest, which is today known as Kalichod Temple.
