IPL 2024: A Detailed Look at the Updated Squads and Teams: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is back for its 17th edition, and it’s bigger than ever with a total of 10 teams vying for the coveted trophy. The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by the legendary MS Dhoni, have managed to retain a strong core of players while also bringing in some fresh faces.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK has always been known for its strategic player retention and smart buys in the auction. This year, they have managed to retain some of their key players while also bringing in some exciting new talent. The team is led by none other than MS Dhoni, who has been the backbone of the team since the inception of the IPL. The team also includes promising players like Rachin Ravindra and Sameer Rizvi, who are seen as the future of the team. However, they will be missing the services of Devon Conway, who is out due to a thumb injury.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
KKR has always been a team to watch out for in the IPL. This year, they have a strong squad but there are concerns over the fitness of their captain Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas didn’t take the field on the last two days of the Ranji Trophy final due to an injury and it is speculated that he might miss the first few games for KKR in IPL 2024.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
Delhi Capitals, one of the consistent performers in the recent editions of the IPL, have also built a strong team this year. However, they have been hit by a couple of injury setbacks. Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi will miss the IPL 2024 due to an injury. This came as a blow to the team as it was just a day after Harry Brook withdrew from the tournament.
The IPL 2024 Auction was a grand event that took place in Dubai. It was the first time that an IPL auction was conducted overseas. The teams had until November 26 to finalize their list of retained and released players. As per the rules set by the IPL committee, each franchise can have a maximum of 25 players in their squad, with a maximum of 8 foreign players. In the Playing 11, each team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players.
The first match of IPL 2024 is scheduled to be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The cricketing world is eagerly waiting for the tournament to begin and it will be interesting to see how the teams perform in this edition of the IPL.
