Germany faces a top -class temperature fall – and it comes faster than many are loved. While spring -like 20 degrees lure on Friday, the weekend brings the drastic crash.
High -pressure area “Noemi” has recently filled us the sun – but the friendly high over Central Europe is slowly withdrawing. And what it leaves is a meteorological vacuum that directs ice -cold polar air directly to Germany. With considerable consequences: Within only 24 to 36 hours, the temperatures fall regionally by up to twenty degrees.

On Friday there is still T-shirt weather with early summer-but on Sunday morning there is even frost in the east of the Republic. The forecast speaks of up to minus seven degrees in early hours. And that’s not all: In the night of Monday, the low values can be almost between zero and minus eight degrees. Anyone who believes that this is just a short slip is wrong. It stays dry and cool for at least a week.
But not only felt, this cold front is also remarkable. Because it is not just a little cooler air – it is a real arctic air suggestion. With the arrival of the cold front and especially on its back, Arctic cold air flows in the eastern half of Germany, which has its origin directly at the North Pole. There is no colder source region at this time of year.
How pronounced the cold air proportion is clearly shown in height: the temperatures at around 1,500 meters (850 HPA) fall rapidly – a safe sign that the cold air arrives across the board.
Such an abrupt change of weather is nothing unusual in April. The month is traditionally considered to be particularly moody – and impressively demonstrates this property this year. So if you had already prepared for a loud spring weekend: better get the thick coat again. April is serious – and without joke.
While many just have to shiver with the thick jacket, the abrupt change of weather can have serious consequences for nature. The sensitive flowers of fruit trees, delicate early bloomers and fresh green in gardens and in fields are very endangered by the cold.
