Google: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has reprimanded Google’s original company Alphabet for “anti -competition activities” in the smart TV market. After this, in an important decision, Google’s operating system and Google Play Store will not be available on Android TV in India.
The CCI says that India is one of the largest global markets in Google, and the company’s way of installing its operating system, Google Play Store and other applications in advance is like doing its “abuse of dominating status” in the market. The Commission has described it as an attempt to establish a monopoly.
What was the whole matter
An important case registered in India has now reached its end among many antitrust cases against Google. While giving a verdict on this petition filed by two Indian competition law experts, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has clearly stated that Google has misused its strong status in the market to exclude the competitors and give itself an edge.

After this decision of CCI, it will not be mandatory for Android TV manufacturers in India to include Google’s operating system, Google Play Store or other pre-installed apps.
You will have to pay money for play store and play services
Under the new Agreement, now Google’s Play Store and Play Services, which were earlier made available for pre-installation, will have to pay for them. Along with this, Google has been instructed to send a letter to all its partners selling Android TV in India, in which it is made that they are no longer obliged to use Google’s Android operating system and are free to use any open-source operating system.
Google will have to pay a fine
Regarding the new agreement made for smart TVs, the Competition Commission (CCI) has said that this agreement will not be limited to television only, but its scope can be increased to other equipment in future. The Commission has also imposed a fine of $ 2.38 million (about Rs 19.8 crore) on Google in this case, which the company will have to pay as settlement.
