Ice for everyone in Hamburg: On Tuesday, Ben & Jerry’s attracts with free sports – and follows an ambitious goal with the “Free Cone Day”.
For fans of ice cream, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, is a holiday: Ben & Jerry’s gives away balls of their most famous varieties worldwide. In Hamburg you can also pick up a portion free of charge at the “Free Cone Day” on April 8th – from 5 to 8.30 p.m. in the Kulturladen St. Georg at Alexanderstrasse 16, the company announced on Instagram.
What is a worldwide spectacle today started 46 years ago in a former petrol station in Burlington. At that time, the founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield wanted to thank you for a successful first year – and spontaneously distributed free ice waffles. The gesture was so well received that it became a fixed tradition.
Over the decades, the “Free Cone Day” has developed into a global action: Last year, more than a million ice balls were given away. In 2025, Ben & Jerry’s wants to crack this record again.
In Hamburg, the Kulturladen St. Georg is to become the meeting point for ice fans. A selection of popular varieties is waiting for you – from classics such as “Cookie Dough” to vegan variants such as “Cookies on Cookie Dough” or the new variety “Brookieeees”.
But the Free Cone Day wants to be more than a pure advertising event. Together with the Zara organization – civil courage and anti -racism, Ben & Jerry’s also uses the campaign to set a sign against exclusion.
