The Federal Government plans huge investments in the protection of the population. The reason is the growing concern of a possible war.
The Federal Government expects costs at a billion dollar height to expand civil protection. In an internal paper of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, which is conducted by Nancy Faeser (SPD), there will be more than 30 billion euros in the next ten years. The population must be better protected – for a “now more likely warfall,” the document says. First the “Spiegel” reported about it.
The money should flow primarily into equipment and infrastructure. New logistics centers across the country are planned, which are intended to provide supplies and materials for auxiliary operations. The technical relief organization (THW) and the Federal Office for Population Protection and Disaster Aid (BBK) should also be better equipped according to the paper.
According to internal calculations, THW and BBK should receive almost 2,200 additional positions – by 2030. According to the Interior Ministry, the goal is to better protect the population from “war -related dangers”.
In addition, according to the ministry, the skills for population warning would also have to be improved- as well as the supply of drinking water and the “maintenance of the state and government function” in the event of defense.
