Negotiations between the BVG and the Verdi trade union failed. What this could mean for Berlin.

The sixth round in the collective bargaining between the Verdi union and the Berlin transport businesses (BVG) on Friday failed. The BVG announced that. This could now lead to an indefinite strike. The RBB had previously reported.

According to the company, the sixth round of negotiations was “ended” on Friday. Verdi accuses the BVG to capture a “non -reality and uninfected demand”.

Verdi demands 750 euros per month with a term of 12 months. The BVG recently gradually offered 375 euros and a duration of this agreement twice as long.

According to the BVG, such an increase is to be expected with “serious effects on employees and passengers”. Nevertheless, the company is still ready to compromise, it said. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 10th.

So far, the Verdi union has not commented on the failure of the negotiations. The fourth industrial action of the employees only ended on Friday morning in the ongoing negotiations. Trams, buses and subways drive again as usual in Berlin.

So far, it is still unclear whether and when the next work of work will come. In the event of an unlimited strike, public transport in the capital could be paralyzed for a long time.
