After China’s counter-strike against US tariffs, the American stock exchanges stagger. The Tesla share in particular falls rapidly.

China’s counter-strike after the drastic customs announcements of the United States shaked the US exchanges on Friday. For the Dow-Jones index of the default values, the morning was 2.7 percent down to 39,460 points. The broad S&P 500 lost 3.1 percent to 15,989 points. The NASDAQ’s index of the Nasdaq technology agency fell 3.5 percent to 15,973 points. In this way, the stock market barometer is heading for a so -called bear market, since the all -time high is now more than 20 percent away.

The shares of Tesla and Apple – which belong to the companies with the greatest sales in China – both fell by 3.7 percent at the start of trade. The Google Group Alphabet, Microsoft and Meta were also in the minus. The chip sector index lost 5.9 percent. The tariffs could lead to higher costs for semiconductor companies that affect profit margins and disrupt complex chip supply chains.

In contrast to Apple, the Tesla share dropped significantly within the first one and a half hours after the start of trade on Friday morning-from $ 259.74 (approx. 235 euros) at 9:30 a.m. to $ 116.51 (approx. 215 euros) at 10.50 a.m. local time (4:50 p.m. German time) and thus by almost ten percent. At 10 p.m. German time, the stock was just under $ 240 on Friday and thus $ 20 weaker than at the start of the trade.

According to the events, the German stock index Dax also noticeably expanded its already clear losses and was a good four percent lower at 20,838 points on Friday afternoon. A minus of over seven percent is currently emerging on a weekly perspective. Bank shares in particular suffered: Deutsche Bank’s share lost eight percent.
