New Delhi: Despite the earthquake in Thailand, there will be a BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Thailand in the first week of April to participate in it. Secretary (East) Jaideep Majumdar in the Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that Prime Minister Modi will go to Thailand to attend the sixth Bimstec summit. PM Modi will be on an official visit to Thailand from 3 to 4 April. This will be the Prime Minister’s third visit to Thailand.
PM Modi will hold bilateral meeting
Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Partagatarn Shinavatra. This will be his second meeting with the Prime Minister of Thailand. Earlier, he met him during the ASEAN Summit in Viantiyane on 11 October last year.
Jaideep Majumdar said that there have been historical bilateral relations, cultural and religious relations between India and Thailand. Thailand is a maritime neighboring country in India. Our act is an important partner in the Vision for East Policy and Indo-Pacific and also an important partner in Bimstec.
PM Modi will go to Sri Lanka on 4 April
PM Modi will go to Sri Lanka after a visit to Thailand. Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian said that after the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Prime Minister Modi will visit Sri Lanka on a state visit from April 4 to 6 on the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake. You all will remember that President Disanayake visited New Delhi on his first foreign trip in December 2024 after taking over as President and now Prime Minister Modi is going there as the first foreign leader to host President Disanayake as the President of Sri Lanka.
PM Modi will go to Sri Lanka for the fourth time in his tenure
It will also be the Prime Minister’s fourth visit to Sri Lanka during his tenure. Sri Lanka is an integral part of our neighborhood first policy and this relationship is based on mutual trust and goodwill and has met the test of time. India has assisted Sri Lanka in important moments. Most recently, during the unprecedented economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka in 2022 and India is happy to play an important role in Sri Lanka’s economic stabilization and improvement.
