A 23-year-old crashes with an avalanche at the Zugspitze-his friend remains unharmed and alerts the rescuers.
A 23-year-old climber from Bavaria was carried away by an avalanche on Saturday evening on the Austrian side of the Zugspitze-around 500 meters we went over rocky terrain. The young man remained seriously injured in the snow, as the police reported in Tyrol. His companion, an 18-year-old from Bavaria, was not grasped and remained unharmed by the avalanche-and thus became a lifesaver. He chose the emergency call before descending to his climbing partner.
The two men had climbed the Zugspitze over the climbing dough “Stopschafler”. At around 5:50 p.m. they were in the descent in the Ehrwald area (Tyrol) when the snow masses detached above the route.
An emergency helicopter took the seriously injured man to the hospital. The Tyrolean police did not provide any information on the type of injuries.
