The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroassured this Saturday that the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado is preparing to leave the Caribbean nation, because – he said – the anti-chavistas “they are cowards.”
“Today I tell you, the supposed queen bee he ran out of bees and is preparing Gucci suitcases (…) she knows what I am saying and ‘La Sayona’ (in reference to Machado) is preparing to leave, compadre, I am also saying it, they are cowards,” said the president at the demonstration called to celebrate his controversial re-election in the state of La Guaira (north).
Maduro recalled that he warned weeks ago that the standard bearer of the main opposition coalition of Venezuela -Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD)-, Edmundo González Urrutiahe would leave the country.
González Urrutia abandoned Venezuela and arrived on September 8 in Madrid, where he requested asylum and where he has received, in the last three weeks, the recognition of the European Parliament and other international organizations as “elected president” in the Venezuelan elections.
Maduro stated that “the fascists They promote hatred, division, intolerance, they seek violence“When they are in a group they are lifted up, but when they are defeated they are cowards.”
The president indicated that after two months of the presidential elections he chavismo has consolidated “victory”, peace, economic growth, as well as social recovery plans.
The opponents they protested this Saturday in Caracas and other cities in the country against the official result of the presidential elections since, they insist, the winner was González Urrutia by a large majority.
The protest, called by PUD, was carried out under the modality of “swarm“, so that citizens could “appear and disappear” quickly for reasons of securityas Machado explained.
The former deputy, who has kept her whereabouts hidden while the Government labels her a terrorist, had an indirect participation in these demonstrations, through a recording that citizens played.
“Each record (of voting) contains thousands, millions of stories, of steps, of tears, each record is a testimony of our strength, courage and our determination to be free and equal, each record contains the truth of popular sovereignty expressed in every vote,” Machado said via audio.
Likewise, he maintained that every day the Maduro government is “more alone, isolated and weak, his violent attacks are a sign, evidently, of despair“.
