The face of racial hatred has once again surfaced in the city of Melbourne, Australia. Unknown people tried to discredit the Shri Swaminarayan Temple located in Boronia area here with humiliating and racial language messages. This incident is not just an attack on a religious site, but a direct attack on the sentiments of the Indian community.
According to the Australian news outlet ‘Australia Today’, the red color was written on the temple wall like ‘Go Home Brown …’. Not only this, a similar indecent language has been found on the walls of two Asian restaurants nearby.
Hindu Council of Australia expressed outrage
Makarand Bhagwat, president of the Hindu Council of Australia (Victoria Chapter), expressed deep resentment over the incident. He said that this temple is a symbol of peace, devotion and unity. Such an incident is an attack on our religious freedom and identity.
Victoria Chief Minister’s message
Although Victoria Chief Minister Jaiseinta Alan has not yet publicly condemned the incident, his office has sent a private message to the temple management. He described it as a disgusting, racial and fear -spreading act. Alan said that the Victoria Police is investigating the matter seriously.

Police engaged in investigating four incidents
According to the police spokesperson, four incidents in Boronia and Bezwater areas are related to each other. Graffity was painted at all these places. The temple, two restaurants and one healing center have been targeted. Police said that there is no place for such hateful behavior in the society.
Anger in Indian community, appeal for unity
After this incident, Hindu and multicultural organizations have united and raised their voice against hatred. The local community and the Multen Network of the ‘City of Greater Knox’ have assured to support the temple.

Deadly attack on Indian youth
In another incident, on Wednesday, a 23 -year -old Indian youth Charanpreet Singh was attacked with a brief comment in the city of Adelaide. The attackers first called him ‘F-off Indian’ and then brutally beaten him on the road. These incidents show that Indians and other minorities in Australia are still facing racial hatred. There is a need to take these matters seriously on the Indian community and the international stage.
