Washington’s top diplomat at the United Nations said on Tuesday that the Trump administration has helped reduce tension between India and Pakistan. America is committed to arbitration and peaceful solutions in disputes around the world. Acting US representative Ambassador Dorothy Xi spoke in a seminar organized in the United Nations Security Council on the subject of multilateralism and peaceful solution of disputes.

He said, as far as possible worldwide, America works to find peaceful solutions with the parties associated with disputes. The council meeting was chaired by Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Xi said that in the last three months, the US leadership has succeeded in reducing the tension between Israel and Iran, the Democratic Republic and Rwinda and India and Pakistan. Since May 10, Trump and his administration have reiterated on several occasions that the US President has helped reduce tension between India and Pakistan. He appealed to all countries to try to resolve mutual disputes peacefully and avoid violence.

China accepted international decisions on South China Sea

Dorothy Xi also said that China should obey the international decision on the South China Sea. The decision was given by the international court in 2016, which is binding for both the Philippines and China. The US accused China of not accepting the decision and violating the maritime rights of other countries.

Dar raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and Indus Water Treaty

At the UNSC meeting, Pakistan Foreign Minister Dar raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and Indus Water Treaty. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, India decided that the Indus Water Treaty would be suspended until Pakistan stops supporting terrorism. The attack was taken by The Resistance Front (TRF), which is associated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan. In response to the attack, India attacked terrorists bases in Pakistan -occupied areas on 7 May, called Operation Sindoor. This was followed by heavy firing in both countries for four days, which calmed down on 10 May.
