The Central Water Commission said on Friday that flood situation at 17 places in various states remains critical. The water level of Ganga and its tributaries in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh is increasing rapidly.

Jhajjham monsoon is raining across the country. The rivers are in spate and flood situation has become serious in at least 17 places. In the Western Himalayan states, the rain is breaking up havoc. Roads are in bad condition in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, drinking water schemes have come to a standstill and power supply is also disrupted due to transformer malfunction. At present, these miseries are not going to be reduced as the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in 30 states and union territories from Uttarakhand to Odisha and Bengal to Kerala.
