These include the river areas of Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The situation in Assam has become a matter of concern, as the Barak, Kushira and Katkhal rivers are growing in Cachar, Karimganj and Halakandi districts respectively.

Water level of rivers in UP-Bihar

25 reservoirs of 13 states also in spate

The CWC also said that 25 reservoirs of 13 states have been reported to be equal to or higher than the water flow limit. These include major reservoirs such as Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh, Almetti in Karnataka, Hirakund in Odisha and Indira Sagar in Madhya Pradesh and Bargi Dam. The Lakshmi barrage of Telangana on the Godavari river saw the highest water flow with 18,000 cumecs. 11,000 cumecs flowed in the Indira Sagar reservoir in Madhya Pradesh. Other affected states with active water flow forecast include Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Here the water level is being closely monitored at sites like Maithon, Panhat, Gosikhurd, Mettur and Kangsabati.

Center assisted 1,000 crore to six states affected by floods

The Central Government has approved the release of an amount of Rs 1,066.80 crore for the six states affected by floods and landslides. The Union Home Ministry said on Thursday that this amount is being given as a central part from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
