A major accident occurred on Tuesday in Vadodara district of Gujarat, when the Gambhra bridge on the Mahisagar river connecting Vadodara and Anand district suddenly collapsed. This accident happened in Padra area. The death of 13 people has been confirmed so far in the accident. At the same time, relief and rescue operations continue even after 24 hours of the incident. However, on Wednesday morning, Vadodara Collector Anil Dhelia reached the spot and took stock of relief and rescue operations.

SDRF teams are doing rescue operation

Teams of Gujarat State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have reached the spot. With the help of divers, the work of finding people trapped in the river is going on. At the same time, local administration is also engaged in removing debris through machines and boats. Please tell that on Tuesday, many people and vehicles were passing together on the bridge, then suddenly a part of it broke and fell into the river. Many vehicles and people fell into the river. The exact cause of the accident is being investigated.

PM Modi announces compensation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, loss of life due to the collapse of a bridge in Vadodara district of Gujarat is very sad. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I wish the injured to get well soon. A grace of two lakh rupees will be given to the families of each deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The injured will be given Rs 50,000.

The entire slab of the Gambhra bridge between two pillars disappears

Gujarat minister Rishikesh Patel said, the bridge was built in 1985. It was maintained from time to time. He said, the exact reason behind the incident will be investigated. The entire slab of the bridge between the two pillars is seen missing in the pictures. About 900 meters long Gambhira bridge has 23 pillars. It is being told that this bridge was repaired last year. In view of the increasing traffic on the bridge, the government approved a new bridge at a cost of Rs 212 crore three months ago. The process of design and tendering of this bridge has also been started.
