The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is all set to kick off on March 22, 2024. The cricketing extravaganza will commence with a high-voltage clash between the defending champions and five-time winners, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The first weekend of the tournament will feature two double headers. On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Punjab Kings will host the Delhi Capitals in the afternoon, followed by the Kolkata Knight Riders hosting the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening. The action will shift to Jaipur on Sunday, March 24, where the home team Rajasthan Royals will face the Lucknow Super Giants in the afternoon. The evening will witness the home team Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions and finalists of the last season, going head-to-head with five-time winners Mumbai Indians.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the first two weeks of the tournament, from March 22, 2024, to April 7, 2024. During this period, 21 matches will be played across 10 cities, with each team playing a minimum of three matches and a maximum of five.

The BCCI will work closely with government and security agencies, following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the Board will review and address any issues pertaining to the schedule of the first two weeks.
