The tariff dispute between Verdi and BVG continues to escalate. Now the union has announced a new strike.
Verdi wants to ride the BVG again. The union announced on Friday evening. According to this, the employees will resign in the coming week on Wednesday and Thursday. The outstanding begins at the start of operation on Wednesday, March 26, and end at the start of operation on Friday, March 28. It can be expected that no subways and trams and only a few buses will run in the capital during this time. S-Bahn, regional and long-distance traffic are not affected by the strike.
“The employers and the Berlin Senate alone are responsible for the other strikes,” said Verdi negotiator Jeremy Arndt. Even in the sixth round of negotiations, the BVG “remained guilty of an offer that meets the responsible work of the employees” and compensates for the price increases in recent years.
The BVG was irritated by the trade union’s approach and sentenced the announcement of other warning strikes “strongest”. “While the BVG suggests arbitration to solve the conflict, the union reacts destructively. You don’t do that,” said the company. Verdi “spanned the bow”.
On Friday, the negotiations between BVG and Verdi ended again without agreement. Both sides then reproach each other. Read more about this here. The BVG then proposed an arbitration procedure. Verdi announced that this proposal will be examined.
Both sides have been negotiating a new collective agreement for around 16,000 employees since mid -January. Since then, Verdi has largely paralyzed Berlin local transport four times – most recently on Wednesday and Thursday.
The basic salary is the crux of the negotiations. Verdi had entered negotiations with a claim of 750 euros more with a term of twelve months. The latest offer from the BVG was gradually 375 euros and 24 months of term.
