UP: 300 shops of meat closed in this district on Mahavir Jayanti, know how many thousand rupees were charged?

Meat shops were closed in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. According to the instructions of the government, the team of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation took strict meat shops on Thursday. A fine of Rs 22,000 was also charged from shopkeepers who violated the rules.

Administration conducted surprise inspection

Dr. Bijay Amrit Raj, Veterinary and Welfare Officer of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, said that many teams of the corporation inspected the major areas of the city- Katju Road, AG office, Kareli, Civil Lines, Allapur and Dhumanganj etc. During this time, many shopkeepers were found to be selling meat by disregarding the orders of the government.

An invoice of 22 thousand rupees was deducted

He said that a challan of Rs 22,000 was deducted by immediately closing the respective shops on violation of the rules. It is the responsibility of all traders to follow the guidelines issued on religious occasions and strict action will be taken on violations in future also. He said that this action of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation was taken for the purpose of maintaining religious harmony so that the sentiments of all communities could be respected.

Please tell that Mahavir Jayanti is a major festival of Jainism, which is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara. It falls on Shukla Trayodashi of Chaitra month, which was celebrated on 8 April in 2025 this year. Lord Mahavira was born in Vaishali, Bihar in 599 BC. They symbolize the principles of non-violence, truth, aparigraha, and self-restraint.
