White smoke above the CDU headquarters? The negotiators of the Union and the SPD are apparently just before an agreement. The breakthrough could still be achieved at night, but there are still a few questions open.
The coalition negotiations of the CDU/CSU and SPD are apparently just before the end. According to information from T-Online, the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus could already agree on the Union and SPD’s heads from Tuesday to Wednesday.
The group of 19 main negotiators (six CDU, four in the CDU headquarters CSUnine SPD) since Tuesday morning to solve the final issues. CDU boss Friedrich Merz has now canceled an appointment with the Junge Union (JU) due to the negotiations for this Tuesday evening. The party leader had actually agreed as a guest of honor for the Ju spring reception.
But the negotiations obviously have priority – and could actually be successfully completed in the next few hours. The biggest sticking points about which Merz and SPD boss Lars Klingbeil still have to bend are, according to T-online information, finance, control, migration and pension. In the event of an agreement, a coalition agreement would be on Wednesday, the black and red government would have been a big step.
If this does not happen, the Union and SPD will continue to negotiate on Wednesday. An agreement is then expected at the end of the week.
