The Saxon State parliament is to decide on May 21st the abolition of the immunity of Minister of Culture Conrad Clemens (CDU). The background is a procedure at the Weißwasser district court because of a traffic violation. A pronunciation for the case is not intended in parliament, as the state parliament announced. The consent is considered safe. In the event of violations of traffic regulations, immunity should be canceled.
The state parliament committee for rules of procedure and immunity matters had already recommended this. Since a member of the deputy objected to the recommendation of the decision on time, the plenary now has to be on the next proper session. Without the objection, the recommendation for the decision would have already been sufficient.
Clemens was flashed in a 30s zone at 81 km / h
In 2023, Clemens had also dealt with a two -month driving ban with a fine in his earlier work as State Secretary and Performance of the Free State of Saxony. He had been flashed in a 30s zone in Krauschwitz in the eastern Saxon joke of 81 kilometers per hour – on a senior residence. Clemens had admitted to having driven too quickly and referred to as a mistake.
At a discussion date, judge Alex Theile recently proposed an attitude of the procedure against a money requirement of 10,000 euros. In addition, Clemens should visit a traffic construction seminar and give at least 20 hours of traffic lessons at schools. But neither the public prosecutor nor the defense approved the proposal.
If immunity is canceled, the path for criminal proceedings is clear. Originally, an administrative offense procedure. The court gave Clemens and his defender a legal reference that the traffic violation could also be rated as a prohibited motor vehicle race. That is why criminal proceedings are now underway.
