Tolmasquim undertakes to leave Petrobras if elected Eletrobras counselor

Rio de Janeiro (Reuters)-Mauricio Tolmasquim has pledged to leave his position as executive director of Petrobras energy transition and sustainability (PETR4) if he became elected Eletrobras counselor (Elet3; Elet6), reported a document published by the electric on Friday.

The movement occurs after Petrobras has decided on its current strategic plan, published in late 2024, to leave behind some more ambitious goals related to energy transition, such as major projects of offshore wind (sea), to focus on biofuels.

Eletrobras confirmed earlier to have received the nomination of the government of Mauricio Tolmasquim, as well as Silas Rondeau and Nelson Hubner, to the Board of Directors, and Guido Mantega to the Fiscal Council.

Petrobras’s shutdown would be necessary for Tolmasquim to take a position on Eletrobras, which frames the oil company as “a competing company”.

“The Company (Eletrobras) states that the candidate is able to sign the declaration of unmisimey,” added the Eletrobras document.

But in May 2024, Lula exchanged Prates for the current CEO, Magda Chambriard, as it aimed to accelerate projects, in order to move the economy and generate income.

On the side of the energy transition, the executive has defended decarbonization projects in operations, as well as advancement in biofuels, such as ethanol, biodiesel, co -owned diesel and green diesel.
